What We Mean by Bedsheet, Bedcover and Bedspread

Bed-linen labels are often used interchangeably in retail, so the construction on our product page is more useful than a rigid category definition. Our current range includes flat block print bedsheets and quilted cotton pieces described as bedspreads, bedcovers and coverlets.

We describe our Quilted Bedspreads as a lightweight all-weather AC quilt, coverlet or dohar, rather than a heavy winter razai. Our quilted bedspread contain filling sandwiched between soft mul mul layers.

Why a Hand Block Print Bedsheet Looks Different

A hand block print bedsheet is created by applying a repeated design with carved wooden blocks. Small shifts in alignment, colour depth or minor smudges can occur because the print is applied by hand. We describe this as a characteristic of the process and do not use it to make unsupported durability comparisons with machine-printed bedding.

Our bedsheet product pages specify 20s sheeting cotton or 200 Tc Percale Cotton. The '20s' description refers to yarn count terminology used for the fabric and is not the same as a finished-sheet thread count. Our Percale cotton ranges from 180 to 300 thread count and we publish that specification for the product.

How to Choose a Bed Linen Size

Measure the mattress length and width, then decide how much fabric you want to tuck in or allow to fall at the sides. Do not rely only on labels such as double, queen or king, because mattress dimensions and desired overhang vary.

• Our block print bedsheets: 225 x 270 cm and 270 x 270 cm on our current bedsheet product pages.
• Percale cotton quilted bedspread: 225 x 270 cm.
• Mulmul or muslin quilted bedcover: 225 x 270 cm.

Compare the product dimensions with your measured mattress before ordering. Going one retail size up is not a universal rule and may produce more overhang than intended.

Materials, Filling and Reversible Details

Our collection includes three distinct constructions:

• Percale cotton bedsheets with two 20 x 28 inch pillowcases and reversible print details.
• A percale cotton block print bedspread with cotton filling, a plain white muslin back and two 20 x 28 inch pillowcases.
• Our Block Print quilted bedcover in mulmul or muslin cotton with 100 gsm light cotton filling, double-sided print and two quilted 20 x 28 inch pillowcases.

Caring for Our Bedsheets and Quilted Bedcovers

Our current bed-linen product pages generally recommend a hand wash or gentle cold machine cycle, no bleach and line drying in shade. We also specify no tumble drying for quilted bedspreads.

Wash separately or with similar colours when our product page notes natural dyes such as indigo or madder. Avoid adding unsupported promises that colour will fully stabilise after a fixed number of washes; follow the care instructions supplied with the product.
